So do you just claim somebody and move on with it or what? It's not an RP journal right?
call it what it is you call it what you want tospring90 on April 29th, 2008 05:18 pm (UTC)
Yup, not RP at all. You just make a post stating who you're claiming, put that you claimed them in your profile or whatever and that's it..

Is it okay that I list it like this in my profile? (Melinda Gordon is a link to my post)

I am the Melinda Gordon of livejournal.

Yup! I think it's actually in the rules that you have to list it on your profile/in a public post on your journal; however you do it is up to you

Okay, I have a question.
I read in the rule that when somebody leave the comm or etc. his claim may be taken. And while browsing the Fictional Characters I saw that user who claimed Rose Tyler is deleted.
Does that mean that I can claim her? Because I really want to.

I've been trying to decide what to do about that.
When someone deletes their journal, they have 30 days to undelete it. Technically they haven't left the community or broken any of the rules, because if they undelete their journal, they will be re-added to the community and everything on their journal would be as it was before.

Since I don't know that person personally, I'm going to wait the 30 days to see if they undelete their journal (it has already been 2-3 weeks) but if not, the claim will be available. I'll let you know!

Ah, I made a mistake and claimed Joe Jonas but I failed to see it was already taken. Can I just claim a new person?

Yup, sounds good. I'll go reject that post now :P

Yep! I don't check to see if someone is a guy/girl for who they're claiming, anyone can claim anyone they want, as long as they're not taken

If you renamed with no connection to our old name (mine was christgrind and my claim is Hayley Williams of Paramore), is there a post we comment to or do we edit our claim post? Or something else?

http://community.livejournal.com/iam_lj/49978.html - from the userinfo

I think it's rule 7? "if you want to change your claim, go to this post" which also applies to username changing :) the answer is in the comments there

It's up to you. If you wanted to use the stage name and add his real name, you can go ahead. As for the tagging, even if it's just a stage name, it's just whatever the name in the post is.

Didn't iam_the come first? What's the purpose of this community? A butthurt person who didn't get the exact character that they want so they had to make a completely new one with a terribly unoriginal idea?
call it what it is you call it what you want to: Tim Fletcher - Smokespring90 on July 22nd, 2008 04:43 pm (UTC)
I was not aware of that community, actually. I got the idea from iam at Insanejournal. I hadn't seen anything about it over here, so I wasn't sure if there was one.

And no, not butthurt over here because my claim was taken. The person I have claimed over here (and I had the pick out of anyone I wanted) isn't claimed over there.

Do we have to tag our posts when we make them?
call it what it is you call it what you want to: MG - Livespring90 on July 26th, 2008 05:16 pm (UTC)
Nope! People can if they want, but if they aren't bothered, one of the mods will do it :)
ex_victims404 on August 3rd, 2008 06:48 pm (UTC)
I would like to drop my claim all together and not pick up a new one. Do I make a new post stating that I'm dropping the claim?

It's explained in this post.
Jessdeepwonderment on August 6th, 2008 02:05 am (UTC)
I had claimed a fictional character and it was accepted and now its not... I'm confused.
call it what it is you call it what you want to: MG - Livespring90 on August 6th, 2008 02:09 am (UTC)
Please see this post for the longer explanation. But the short version is, if you already had a fictional character claim before the events of the post I linked to, you can keep it here if it's taken at iam_the.
karakatastrophe on August 7th, 2008 04:47 am (UTC)
How do I know if my post was rejected? I submitted it two days ago and already put rule 7 in my bio.
call it what it is you call it what you want to: Matthew Good - Haiiirspring90 on August 7th, 2008 01:48 pm (UTC)
You'll get and email as to if it was accepted/rejected when I go through the posts. I usually wait at least a day to go through and approve/reject posts because adding everything to the listing is a little tedious (and it's less time consuming the more you have, if that makes sense)

Since it was a couple days ago, it'll probably be approved (I try and go through them and reject the ones that need to be rejected as they come in.)
are you out of your vulcan mind?: junsu: beauty's only skin deep andxiahtic on August 11th, 2008 09:53 am (UTC)
if we want to claim an asian person, which name do we go by? they technically go by last names first over there, so i just want to be sure before i claim. (kim junsu is who i want to claim, btw.)
call it what it is you call it what you want to: Tim Fletcher - Crazyspring90 on August 12th, 2008 12:04 am (UTC)
I'm not involved in any asian fandoms or anything, so whichever you want first? It doesn't really matter to me, rofl
